Isn't so bad, it is possible to rebuild it as the convertible... or something like that. Actually the new shape of roof is also quite interesting. |

Isn't the BMW a 2000 Touring? (to make it even worse ) |
◊ 2007-02-26 23:46 |
It seems it is one indeed. Well spotted. And what about the old 30's car in the upper left corner ? -- Last edit: 2007-02-26 23:47:17 |
◊ 2007-02-27 00:16 |
I can make a new page for this 30's car, but isn it too background and not especially visible in this mess? |
◊ 2007-02-27 00:17 |
Looks like ca 1936 Renault. |

Are you keen on Cesar's sculptures Weasel ... maybe are you thinking about a decoration for your living room |
◊ 2007-02-27 00:22 |
I do not think that it deserves a separate page, but that does not prevent from identifying it here -- Last edit: 2007-02-27 00:23:16 |

I'm driving something which is starting to look like his sculpture. BTW. The BMW is rather a sedan - look at the right C pillar. -- Last edit: 2007-02-28 19:43:02 |
◊ 2007-02-27 15:07 |
Well Weasel1984, the C-pillar is exactly the reason why I thought it's a Touring: the pillar seems to be thicker and more to the back of the car. Also the possibility to look through the car and see the background made me think of a Touring that has lost its hatchback-door. |
◊ 2007-02-27 15:16 |
I don't know, for me is more 'vertical' than in the Touring, let's wait for Ralph. -- Last edit: 2007-02-27 15:38:34 |

first i think also it is a sedan but right, it is a Touring (BMW 2000 Touring 1971) |
◊ 2007-03-03 22:19 |
Most of the cars junked are not so old, at much 10 years. I though those cars supposed to be more hardly than todays cars |
◊ 2007-03-03 22:23 |
Actually some of the worse cars (rust and quality control problems) were made in the 1970's. |
◊ 2007-03-07 06:28 |
Ah yeah, like what cars? |
◊ 2007-03-07 06:38 |
I remember a lot of cars from the 70's (from all parts of the world) that just crumbled into mounds of rust after a couple or three winters. And I grew up with mild Calfornia coastal winters were snow was scarce and we did't need to salt our roads! |
◊ 2007-03-10 21:08 |
Still don´t say what cars specifically |
◊ 2007-03-10 21:23 |
There was an almost world-wide quality control failure in the 1970's and some very unreliable cars were produced. To name a few of the worse ones: 1969-1976 Fiat 1970-1976 Volvo 1970-1976 Ford Pinto 1971-1975 Chevy Vega 1969-1970 Subaru 1970-1971 Ford Torino 1970-1972 Mercury Montego 1973-1976 VW Dasher 1973-1975 Honda Civic 1974-1978 Triumph 1975-1980 AMC Pacer 1975-1976 VW Rabbit 1975-1976 Jaguar 1977-1980 Dodge Aspen Source: "Lemons The Worlds Worse Cars" by Timothy Jacobs 1991 -- Last edit: 2007-03-10 21:23:36 |

A Volvo? a VW fwd cars? a Honda Civic? ARE YOU NUTS OR DOPED? ( or Timothy Jacobs is a asshole) |
◊ 2007-03-11 01:34 |
1975-1976 VW Rabbit I think he meens the rusty GDR iron time. |
◊ 2007-03-11 01:38 |
Hey, you asked for information and I gave it to you. I can't help it if you find it difficult to deal with. I could provide details of the problems the cars had but considering your reaction I won't bother - a waste of my time. |
◊ 2007-03-11 05:10 |
I´m not difficult to deal with. Is only not always is the true of the books says, not from you, you only posted the information of the book of that morron of Timothy Jacobs, he is the real wrong |

I have experience with several of the cars mentioned and can tell you that he was correct with them (volvo 164, volvo 1800e, honda civic cvcc, vega and dodge. I don't know personally about the rest of them but have no reason to doubt. Why do you doubt? -- Last edit: 2007-03-11 05:49:41 |

Here are some of the cars I (or my family) had the frustration of owning. 1962 Plymouth Sport Fury - Replace engine (361 cube V8) after 45,000 miles. 1964 Plymouth Sport Fury - Early rust out. 1970 850 Coupe and Spider - Very poor quality control, unreliable electrical system, early rust out, poor drivability due to emission controls, underpowered. 1974 Chevrolet Monte Carlo - Early rust out, poor drivability due to emisson controls. 1974 Ford (Mercury) Capri - Burned oil, poor quality control, complete loss of brake system on freeway, rust. 1975 Chevy Vega Kammback wagon - Early rust out, engine head warping, poor drivability due to smog control, underpowered 1978 VW Rabbit - Early rust out, burned oil, clutch replacement after 30,000 miles. 1978 VW Scirocco - Air conditioning stopped working after 7,500 miles - unable to fix 1979 Pontiac Firebird Formula - Interior trim pieces feel off car after 2,000 miles, exhaust system support brackets broke off after 5,000 miles, air conditoning stopped working after 15,000 miles. 1980 VW Rabbit Convertible - Clutch replacement after 18,000 miles. While many (if not most) of these cars were great fun, they also spent a good deal of their lives in ths shop due to indifferent workmanship. Some were never cured if their problems and sold at great loss. -- Last edit: 2007-03-11 07:42:08 |

There's a Simca 1100 in the scrap pile, some 1970s Simcas had a rusting reputation. |

All 1976 Volvos had to be sent back to the factory to be repainted due to warranty problems. I used to have a 1976 242 and got the story told by my granddad who worked at the local Volvo dealer at the time. Seventies Volvos, like most seventies cars had notorious rust problems. |
