Probably Aus-built. Is it a 4 door convertible?? If so, was it an Aus factory version or external conversion?? |

Best rear view I could get - looks to be a convertible!![]() Plate number dates from 1968 - just wondering if it was perhaps a de-commissioned VIP car, used for official visits by foreign dignitaries, etc? Original plate would have been a Government one rather than civilian. Here's shot of the Queen and Prince Philip in Adelaide - same car? ![]() More information here: https://www.sa.hillman.org.au/RoyalVisit1954.htm -- Last edit: 2017-02-24 10:04:42 |

Interesting. So might be a UK build kept on board Britannia and unloaded wherever docked for a royal visit, until eventually sold off in Aus. If so maybe Thrupp & Maberley (Rootes in-house coachbuilders by 1950s) or maybe Tickfords become contenders. More digging needed ... |

See this one which was a UK build/conversion for the 1954 Commonwealth tour and ferried around in the Britannia. |
