What side flash? As far as I know, this is a Low Line Consul which all had those rear lights https://www.flickr.com/photos/leicester-vehicle-photography/14528957005/ from 1959 onwards. Low line Zephyrs had a slightly different rear https://www.car.info/en-se/ident/704793/spots (my car), no matter where they were assembled. The only few things that could differ between markets (from early 50's and onwards) are indicators, added rear reflexions, heater, a bigger air intake for the engine and mud flaps. I'm not aware of anything else and would be happy to know more. |

@DynaMike: I haven't seen any of those before, but I suppose it all make sence if sold alongside the French Ford (that is Simca) http://www.philseed.com/simvedette.html . But it seems not all Mk 2 from the Netherlands had that colour scheme /vehicle.php?id=1007671 . Were only the Low Line's painted that way? |

I believe it might point either way, but I'm far from certain. According to http://www.classiccarcatalogue.com/FORD%20D%201958.html , when comparing model years, it might be MY 1958 if the first one is a 12M Combi, the second a 17M de Luxe and the third one a Consul. But when looking at the roof line of the Consul, I belive it has a flatter roof and thus might be a 1959+ Low Line. "... eind jaren vijftig" should mean "last years of the 50's", if I understand the Dutch language correctly. So no clue there either. Did Dutch made MY 1959 12M Combi still have the side strip of the German made MY 1958? Edit: According to Olyslager Motor Manual concerning the Mk2 models, MY 1959 was introduced in February 1959. And on page 11 there is an interesting clue: "The Consul is available in an extensive variety of single and two-tone colour schemes, which vary with the year of manufacture and the assembly plant in which the car is finished." Could it be a late 1958 12M Combi alongside an early 1959 Consul? Perhaps the change between the Model Years took place at that particular photo shot! -- Last edit: 2017-03-17 11:28:47 |
