I did not know it was sold in North-America, and seeing how few we have on the site, I guess they are not so common there

No, not a big seller:

Just yesterday I saw one being parked in front of my car. Not the rarest sight here around but also definitely not a top seller. I asked the owner what was his opinion about the car and he was very happy with it, telling me that he bought it to replace a smart Fortwo but that he's having a much better experience with this Toyota than with the smart, in terms of driveability, comfort and boot space.

It's a pity that Toyota soon abandoned this model: I think that with a better advertising and a different price placement it could really have had a huger success. Or perhaps it could have been more appropriate to sell it as a Lexus.

I almost thought you saw a Scion the other day. :D

Well, that would really have been a rare sight here :D But not far from my home there is a green Ford Taurus X parked since a couple of years...

There's a white US-spec Mazda Miata NA on my old street, and a VW Quantum at the impound.

And somewhere in my photos is the picture of a Toyota Sienna with German plates...

The Taurus in my neighborhood has got a Washington state plate and still a roof box on (it was such a long trip :D ).

Here is not so rare to meet some re-registered US-spec cars: in particular large German SUVs, and many Infinitis from the times they weren't still officially sold in EU, and a couple of Dodge Durangos are also to be seen here around. There are also often some US sports cars and pickups to find (someone in front of my house recently bought a yellow Ford F-150 Raptor which always exceeds the parking lots :D ), but sometimes you can meet also some more common cars like some VW Golf (really don't know the reason to reimport them  ) and some days ago I even met an US-spec Fiat 500

In Brussels the Toyota iQ are not uncommon (but still not as common as the Smart of course)
A friend has one, that I already drove, it is a nice city car; it feels more like a "real car" than a smart, but it is still easy to park (and you can fit 3 or 4 people, depending on the size of the driver... years ago we did a few km while being 5 in that car, but it was tight :D)
Lexus may been a better choice indeed, as it was seen as a little too pricey, but on the other hand it seemed higher lever than a Yaris for example.

i don't think selling them as Lexus would be a good idea.... they were already unable to sell them as a Scion, if they had to ask a few thousand $$ for them as a Lexus... ;)

i see them from time to time, and where my bank is there ia a mall across the street and someone who works there has one

I checked my photos, and while I didn't find the Sienna, I forgot I spotted these on my road trip in 2011:

The Malibu might have belonged to a US serviceman or a soldier from the ex-American Zone (where it is registered)

I meant in Europe, as the price range was a little high for a Toyota, at the same price for a Lexus it could have worked better.

Yes, and maybe people would have considered it a 'cooler' brand. Maybe some more exterior customization possibilities would also have helped, as like an EV variant. Moreover, the man I met some days ago told me that at the Toyota dealers he visited before buying the car they often tried to persuade him to buy a cheaper Aygo or a larger Yaris instead, and it's not the first time I hear this: seems that they didn't always believe in a possibility of success of the car

Just saw the first imported VW Atlas here - black with red WOB-license plate. :)

Also a black US-spec RAV4 (first generation) and a VW NMS (not Passat)
