Kinda strange how a car that wasn't ever sold in the US is in a movie that takes place in the US. |

That movie takes place in England. |

As it is in the UK, what name had the 2104 there? Is it "Riva" like another Lada model? |

It takes place in the US. The cars drive on the right hand side of the road, and they use american money. |

That's clearly a RHD car. |

The film was made in England, but the setting is deliberately non-specific. |

Should have a made for UK tag then. |

A company my dad worked for at the time supplied about 10 scrap Lada's for the background shots, some of them didn't have engines. My dad signed the order for them to be transported from several scrap yards across Yorkshire that the company owned to Pinewood studios |

21042 (that sounds kind of snappy!) or 21046? -- Last edit: 2017-01-31 15:04:24 |

It is kind of weird. Ladas were sold in Canada for some time, but not in America. |

Canada had closer ties with the USSR during the Cold War, and no reputation. The cars were also exported from cold into cold climates. That's not to say Soviet vehicles didn't get exported to the US: the University of Nebraska successfully tested several Belarus tractors in 1973. Those tractors were sold in the US as well as up north. -- Last edit: 2018-04-03 16:40:42 |
