Ford? I wonder if this wouldn't be a 1956 Mercury, because of the "Z"-spear. ![]() |

I think they just did somthing with the taillights after the originals were broken or something. http://www.woolcockantiqueauto.com/waapimgprdcts/Mercury-1956-wagona.jpg http://www.stationwagon.com/gallery/pictures/1956_Mercury_Monterey_rear.jpg |

Cuban mechanics have to repair cars with whatever parts they can find. |

The Monterey has the same trim spear on the sides. I dont know if the Monterey's all had woodgrain sides or not, this maybe a lower level model. |

That's true, I saw a car in Cuba with no original headlights, and headlights from a Volga mounted on the hood. Most cars in Cuba have little left of their original trim. |

Mercury did not make a commuter wagon until 1957. This is a 56 custom series wagon. It may have started out as a 9 passenger or a 6 passenger model. All 56 Monterey wagons had the simulated wood trim on the side and the molding rode higher because of the wood trim. The tail lights have been switched out with a ford. |
