United had some Leyland Tiger PS1/1 bodied by Willowbrook, but they are recorded as B35R, and this is front entrance. -- Last edit: 2017-08-05 22:37:34 |

How about a Leyland TS8? - check out two pics of EHN974: https://www.flickr.com/photos/buses-international/5677244918 or Link to "www.google.co.uk" -- Last edit: 2017-08-06 00:27:47 |

Yes, even the chariot panel is a matching shape, TS8/Willowbrook would seem right. |

Might be an EHN plate (Darlington, March 1938 to March 1939, 1939 numbers started at 774), but no chance of reading the numbers here. |

There is no record of any EHN registrations for United on Bus Lists, yet they go back to HN, AHN and BHN registered vehicles, and to the year 1939. All of those older vehicles are, however, rebodied and credited with build dates in 1948 and 1949. Strangely, the HHN buses are given build dates of 1/47 (HHN291) to 1/48 (HHN340), all being Tiger PS1/1 with Willowbrook B35R bodies. Bus Lists is not 100% accurate, not their fault, as they must rely on data from earlier sources, but this strikes me as odd, especially as the EHN vehicle featured is a coach (but apparently downgraded to service bus use), which usually receive more attention than do the service buses. I did wonder about the subject vehicle, which does have a sort of prewar look about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLGbMOrDQW0 Proof, if ever it was needed, of United EHN buses, and not a bagpipe in earshot, Northumbrian or otherwise. -- Last edit: 2017-08-06 12:10:09 |

That bus is EHN 983 in the only clip where I could catch a plate - https://youtu.be/XLGbMOrDQW0?t=106 - and always possible more than one bus participated. Film seems to use many of same locations as the BTF film on very similar days - although exact duplication of footage is very fleeting (a couple of bits of people walking to bus stop were the only exact matches I spotted - none of the buses themselves), https://youtu.be/XLGbMOrDQW0?t=10 has the same parked cars behind as the Tiger PS1/1 Willowbrook. |
