Nobody asked for it, but nevertheless: The green car far left is a Humber Scepter. The red car behind the black one is a 1960 Chevrolet (Bel Air?). And in the middle, there is a white 1956 Ford on top of a white 1959 Ford.

Lada's were not imported into Australia until the mid 1980's, and then only the Niva 4wds, and some Samara sedans/hatches, so not a Lada

It is a Datsun 1200 [B110] 4-door sedan. Very common in Australia, where this movie was filmed. The cowl gasket matches the 1200.
The engine looks to be at a 45 degree angle :-)

I think the american cars would still be LHD, because the law did not go into effect until 1962. Please correct me if I am wrong.

It is my understanding that these vehicles I have listed are usually from Canada as CKD. It also could be locally assembled too..

I think Humber Vogue (rebadged in Aus from Singer) - a real pity it's not better shown.
