Some people find the made for useful to find other examples from certain markets. The different name/visible differences rule seems to get ignored a lot of the time now so maybe the discussion needs to be opened up again? |

Agree. Would be useful in lots of situations - highlighting unexpected places to find something, retrieving linking particular cars if they have repeat sightings, checking local names if they differ from source country title and cleaning up scattered groups into same place, etc. And it's more fun for collecting together things like Volvos in North Korea, Mini Clubman estates in Italy, unexpected US sightings around the globe, and so on. Would be a discretionary use as we've too much where boxes haven't been ticked which no-one's probably ever going to back-trawl, but becomes particularly useful if we discover new facts (names/dates/versions etc) about particular markets, so can correct/update an easily retrieved group in a fairly straightforward task. |

For a while, I wanted to put all Japan-spec japanese cars as "Made for J", because the local market versions often differed from the export versions. But there was some objections to that, and it was justified, so I backtracked a bit, and since then I've put "Made for J" on JDM cars seen outside of Japan. And I'm happy with that. |
