Some permutation of MXB 838 to NYR 979 and whatever intermediate combinations. All characters have 2 alternatives, so 64 possibilities. |

NXP 973 RT 4688 I think - Jan 1954 (1956 in service at Sutton) otherwise NXP 978 RT 4693 or NXP 979 RT 4694.(1956 in service at Hendon) Regent III RT / sources http://users.tpg.com.au/hadrecs/bus_rego_database/rego-nxp.htm http://www.countrybus.org/RT/RTa46.htm -- Last edit: 2017-09-18 21:50:10 |

Recognisably a London Transport AEC RT, so that narrows the permutations. THe letters are therefore NXP. The numbers I would hazard are 978, which would make it RT4693. It's on route 13, which was partly operated by LT's Hendon garage. RT4693 was operating from Hendon garage from 1954 to 1957. Not conclusive, but very plausible. NXP979 was at Merton garage 1954-7, NXP973 at Sutton, so my money would be on RT4693, which happened to be the first one I checked out :-) |
