The Escort is definitely an early 90's Escort, that generation came out for '91. The blurry car is a second-generation Intrepid. |

That's the rear end of the facelifted 1993 LX hatchback. Strangely, the strip in the middle is white... it's supposed to be amber. I would say that it fell off but the badges are still there. |

This is a 1993 model, because in that year begin to wear the bumpers in the same color of the body, so must be 1991-92 |

Does anyone have any links or info on the different taillight/reflector configurations? It seems totally random to me. Here's what I mean I have owned 3 Escort hatchbacks of this generation, a 1991 GT (3-door), a 1993 LX (3-door) and a 1995 LX-Sport (5-door) My 91 GT had full rear lights (red/amber) My 93 LX had full rear lights (red/amber) like this : /vehicle_124757-Ford-Escort-1994.html My 95 LX-Sport only had the amber strip running across the hatch. Like this: http://www.focushacks.com/escort/pixs/shrink_2-12-03-escort3.jpg At first I thought that cars with no reflectors across the trunk area were base Escorts but I have seen them (the one in this picture included) that has Escort LX emblems and NO amber or red reflectors. Is there any kind of system or did Ford just throw the reflectors on whenever they felt like it? Above cieraguy stated that it looked like the amber strip fell off of this car but it couldn't have because of the emblems. The cars WITH amber reflectors had the emblems above the reflector, the cars WITHOUT amber reflectors had there emblems where the reflector should go, like the one pictured. Also the cars without the red reflectors have different rear sheetmetal that the cars with them. (I tried to put the red reflectors from my 91 GT on my 95 LX-Sport and noticed that it can't be done.) EDIT: and now I notice from looking at other Escorts on this site that some of them that had the Amber but not the red reflectors had the emblems under the amber strip (where the red reflectors would go) but my all of my Escorts (even the one with only the amber strip) had the emblem above the amber strip. -- Last edit: 2009-10-19 20:50:27 |

I have not been paying attention to newer generation USA spec Ford Escort It is not my forte. However, I found this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:91-94_Ford_Escort_LX_hatch.jpg . And this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ford_Escort_LX_hatch.jpg . I could surmise this: It could be optional trim package associate with certain trim level Does it help? My complement to tonkaTRACKER on my lighting interest |

Doesn't really help as both pictures you linked to are the same trim, yet different lights. Thanks anyway. |

Terra looky here @Tonka's post. Can we use that info? Is it legit? We have a problem with this listing as the sedan came out for 1992.... So this has to be a hatchback as mentioned above. We have a lot of 1991 sedans listed. 1992 was first year for it. |

The sedan's did have different taillights. (FIXED, Can't believe I didn't see they were hatchback models. Should have seen that coming. 1992 had no reflectors as Tonka but they had full width taillights. 1993 had reflectors near the license plate while 1994 had it below the taillights http://www.auto-brochures.com/makes/Ford/Escort/Ford_US%20Escort_1992.pdf 1993 - Link to "findclassicars.com" 1994 - https://www.flickr.com/photos/andrew-turnbull/8394278070 1995-96 for the sedan did also have different taillights as seen here. 1995 - http://gtcarlot.com/colors/car/42517644-5.html 1996 - Link to "www.curbsideclassic.com" 5-door Hatchback year changes 1991 - https://www.carspecs.us/cars/1991/ford/escort/37064 1992- Link to "smclassiccars.com" 1993 - http://gtcarlot.com/colors/car/63913807-4.html 1994 - http://gtcarlot.com/colors/car/64035249-6.html 1995- http://gtcarlot.com/colors/car/9474767-2.html 1996 - ? 3-door hatchback changes 1991/92 - http://www.themotoringenthusiastjournal.com/Vehicles/past_vehicles.htm 1993-94 - Link to "www.2040-cars.com" 1995/96 - http://gtcarlot.com/colors/car/41068672-5.html -- Last edit: 2019-06-15 02:58:49 |

sedan had tail lights similar to the Tracer's ( with an orange part coming somewhere around 1993-1994 ) 1994 seems logical as the Tracer also had a change ( 1991-1993 , 1994-1996 ) -- Last edit: 2019-06-15 02:58:30 |

Fixed the links for you dhill, my bad, I'm getting tired. I compiled the changes for all the taillights into that one comment for future reference. -- Last edit: 2019-06-15 02:59:52 |
