The car pictured is none other than my Old Toby, a 1954 Willys Aero Eagle 654-MC3. It's an early 1954, reserialed from a 1953 Eagle with 1954 items bolted on: bumper guards, taillamps, headlamp and parking lamp bezels and the instrument panel. Everything else remained 1953 issue: paint, upholstery, etc. There is a better full shot of Old Toby moments before the shots shown here. -- Last edit: 2023-01-12 05:24:06 |

Thanks for sharing! Interesting detail surrounding the mismatch parts. I thought it might be a resto-mod as the external hinges and fender script negated 1954. So I guess it's a similar case to the 1954 Kaiser Special which also quickly appeared as a solution to get rid of last-year-stock, by spicing up an old body-shell. I'll change the year and add you as the owner then. Interesting to note that there was a single-series Aero Eagle for 1953 which branched into 4 different variations for 1954. Usually it's the other way around for low-volume cars, but I guess Willys thought they were being clever by offering a variety of models in the hope of turning a profit. [MC3] denotes the simple Aero Ace Hardtop, while there was also a Special [MC3S], Deluxe [MC1] and Custom [MC2]. As for the "better full shot", do you have a time tag or any idea about the context of the scene? I sure didn't catch it upon my viewing of this film. Thanks again. |

FFW'ed through the film again now, and I'm 99.54 % sure that this is the only time it appears. Are you sure you weren't thinking about another movie? |
