The action of this film starts in North of France (see the plate n°59 of the 2CV AK400...59 is Departement du Nord )This picture is at the beginning of the film when Jean Yanne buy the Peugeot 404 and goes on this mainway near Lens (Pas de Calais -62). I know exactly where this tower is from = it's one of the last Coal site still beeing operated until the late 80's... so this lorry is in France |

When in Rome, do as the Romanians? I would like to agree, but I can't. The truck in this pic still has the headlamps in the wings, not down in the bumper. It is hence a first generation Kurzhauber and thus built before MAN had links to Saviem. This is a MAN. -- Last edit: 2007-06-01 02:19:02 |

Indeed the MAN labelled SAVIEM had it on the bumpers. So it's actually a MAN as Romanians said " errare humanum est" , isn'it? |

S'agissant d' un 21.236 français, ce MAN est normalement siglé SAVIEM, car son prédécesseur, le 21.215 avait déjà l' inscription Saviem sous celle de MAN. Pour la petite info, ces 2 séries avaient les phares ronds dans les ailes, mais le 1er n' avait que le capot basculant, alors que le 2è avait le capot et les ailes d' un seul bloc basculant, comme sur la série suivante ( 26.240 par ex ) qui avait les optiques rectangulaires dans le pare chocs. bon, au final , c' est tout du MAN...Sixcyl, si tu veux te charger de la traduction, je fénéantise ( comme certains anciens camions Saviem, initialement Renault ) un peu ce soir |

Je veux bien traduire, mais à condition d'avoir tout compris  Si je te suis bien , ces MAN "français" étaient donc signés MAN-Saviem ? (ce qui ne me surprend pas car de mémoire j'ai vu bon nombres de camions MAN avec les 2 noms portés sur la calandre..s'agissaient t'il de celui-là , c'est une autre histoire ) |

I'll try to translate Philgoods comment: "Because it's a French 21.236, this MAN is normally badged as a Saviem, since it's predecessor the 21.215 already had the inscription Saviem under that of MAN. By the way, these two series both had round headlights in the fenders, but the first had just a bonnet to open, whereas the second had the bonnet together with the fenders opening as one piece, just like the following series (like 23.240) that had the rectangular headlights in the bumper. Well, however, it is always a MAN..." Sixcyl's answer was another question: "If understand you correctly, these 'french' MAN were badged as MAN-Saviem? (which doesn't surprise me because I remember to have seen lots of MAN trucks with these two names on the grille... though I don't know if they were the same as this one)" |

The 2 names were on the grille on the first MAN sold by SAVIEM . After ( on the models with headlights in the bumper ) only SAVIEM was written |
