It wasn't a mid-year change, but a complete redesign. The 2006-2011 JDM Corollas were basically narrower versions of the [E140] Corolla sold in other markets, while the 2012+ [E160] model is actually based on the Yaris/Vitz and unrelated to the [E170] Corolla sold in the rest of the world. The [E160] generation went on sale in Japan in May 2012, around the same time the old model went out of production, so technically the last [E140] Corollas and first [E160] models were both 2012 models. |
