We did not have the two cars at the same time. Dad’s manual 1750 was L Reg, my auto was R Reg. The earlier one had a difficult gear change, which the later cars seemed to improve upon, (nothing to do with Mk1 Maxis which were even worse) and my auto was quite gutless. It did, however, have a really smooth engine with an almost silent tickover. Just shows how things can change. Dad then changed the Maxi for his M Reg Morris 1800, which he kept for years, I got an R Reg Granada Estate with a camshaft rattle so bought cheaply. |
