You're right, there is no Cabriolet verion of the 1900, only a sedan with same grill than this one, and a coupé,"Gran luce" with a specific grill.

The sole 1900 with open body made directly by Fiat was an hybrid get mated the body of 1400 Cabriolet with a 1900 engine(only that shared by 1900),but that version was made only in a small lot and only for "Polizia Stradale"(Italian Motorway Police)vehicles fleet, not for civilian use(outside shown same grille of early Fiat 1400s,but if engine was different)

How can you tell this is a 1900 and not a 1400?
Also, if someone has a copy of the Italian movie, L'Avventura, there is a great 1400B cabriolet used in that with nice screen captures available.

this car is in my humble opinion an original Fiat 1400 Cabriolet (1950 - 1954) which is later (1956/58) modified by changed boot lid (trunk deck), rear fenders (from Fiat 1400 A) and front grill and bonnet (hood) from 1400 B.
why ? - first - it is almost not possible to modify the struchture of the 4door sedan into a hoodless 2door with large doors an windable back windows. - The structure/body of the 1400 Cabrio was a total other then the 1400 sedan body. For better amortisation Fiat created the 1900 Gran Luce (Coupe) which had the same structure/body as the Cabriolet and was build up to 1959. (allessandro Sannia in his book "Fiat 1400 e 1900 fuoriserie" shows also no 1400 B Cabriolet of any known coachbuilder) and it is not an opened 1900 A or 1900 B Coupe because
- second - some details indicate the first version of Fiat 1400 - especially the fascia/dashbord: this is not a 1400 B/1900 B.
The two speaker-grills left and right from the ashtray are the original from the Fiat Cabriolet (with standard radio). The 1400 A fascia had different speaker-grills and other pull knobs.
Enough to say it is an later (1956 - 1958) modified original (older) Fiat 1400 Cabriolet ?
regards

The original Fiat 1400 Cabriolet was in production untill the end of 1952, and not untill 1954, the date of the introduction of the 1400 A. The very last 1400 cabriolets were fitted with Fiat 1900 mechanics and engine and sold to the Italian Police, as "Fiat 1900 Torpedo Veloce".
