"N'importe quoi !!!". Quand on se pique de réaliser un film concernant la guerre, il y a un minimum à respecter. -- Last edit: 2007-06-24 23:11:29 |

This was filmed in Romania, so it might be an ARO M-461: /vehicle_16972-ARO-M-461-1964.html http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0398029/locations |

yep, a Rumanian M-461,..this movie was produced using mainly donations in money by a small independent British low budget film company (the same people who made the "Dog Soldiers" werewolf horror pic)...and production went massively over budget when they included the glider borne special effect and crash scene..so they had to use whatever they could borrow for the movie, hence the postwar vehicles. -- Last edit: 2007-06-25 06:22:54 |

For the record - in reference to old discussion started by Romanian members here: /vehicle_479682-IMS-M-59-A-1959.html No action was taken after that, meantime the M-461 from the years 1964-68 indeed needs to be renamed. This site clearly states that "ARO" didn't exist as brand before introduction of the C-model: http://www.arom461.ro/arom461.html what confirms period materials: http://www.arom461.ro/brosuri.html http://www.arom461.ro/manualeteh.html On most materials linked above is written "Uzina Mecanica Muscel" and UMM is IMO the best "brand" in this case, especially that they use abbrevation "UMM" also on these sites: http://www.arom461.ro/m461.html https://www.classiccarcatalogue.com/ARO%201969.html |

Weasel, here it's listed as ARO and previous models as IMS http://www.automobileromanesti.ro/Aro/ |

But there aren't any scans of official period materials. I know that pre-C 461 are commonly named or AROs or just M-461 (w/o any brand), anyway also there, on automobileromanesti.ro you can see in text that at least once they use name "UMM (U.M.M.) M461". |

and another one |

From what year? In 1968/69 brand ARO was already in use and model "ARO M-461 C" in brochures and on cover of handbooks is often described just as "ARO M-461" (without C)- I bet it is such case also in this case. |

Weasel the issue is just not worth it maybe the ARO name was later used retroactivly but I don't see a problem if we stick with it for all of them |

here in german also described as ARO , it could be that it was used for Export initialy and then added for internal use too |

This is pic from early 1970s brochure of M-461 C - when ARO was already really ARO. Mike, you paste random pics without checking from what years they are and which model exactly is on them. Meantime it is quite easy - main Romanian fanclub (and some other sites too) says that ARO wasn't used as brand till intro of model M-461 C with squared Trabant indicators (in some brochures it was still named M-461 anyway) what was in the year 1968/1969. According to this what you propose we can also forget about the name IMS and name all of these cars simply ARO. -- Last edit: 2018-09-13 17:36:47 |
