Possibly a Lancia Flaminia Berlina, but I cannot distinguish the air intake on the bonnet (http://www.philseed.com/images/lancia-flaminia-58b.jpg) -- Last edit: 2007-06-26 09:12:29 |

[quote=talfarlow]Maybe the Peugeot 404, italian design[quote] Probable a Peugeot 404(given that this and the other ones are all taxi cars, see small plate on roof),many sold in Italy in Diesel variation, better suitable for that purpose -- Last edit: 2007-06-26 18:51:36 |

I don't think it's a 404, the grille is too round at the top edges. The car seems to be too small to be a Lancia Flaminia, they're big cars. Perhaps it's a smaller Appia.... Or a Simca Aronde? |

Another possibility is that could be a 1962 to 1968 Fiat 1500 L(=Lunga=LWB)Taxi(a car with specific inside/outside trim, with a glass partition for driver and passengers, made directly by Fiat, that later in 1963 will originates the"civilian"1500 L for private purposes) |

you could be right about the Fiat 1500L actually. There;s a distinct chrome bar running a lit bit over the front bumper, which is a feature of the 1500L. It's very difficult to be absolutely sure. |

But the Fiat/Seat 1500 had a sharper edge along the hood -look above the front lights- and this one looks round. Anyway the big 1500 is very familiar to me, we also used them in Spain as taxis and ambulances. http://personales.mundivia.es/seat1500/FIAT/fiat.HTML The Simca Aronde certainly had a more curved grill, but it seems smaller than the question car. http://t2frx2.online.fr/aronde.htm Look at the small lights. They look oval, maybe rectangular. Maybe a good clue. The whole front is designed on a vertical plain, slightly tilted forward; it's another common feature with Peugeot 404. |

I replaced the main picture with a slightly clearer one and made a larger copy of the car: I believe it´s a Peugeot 404, shape of the grille is the same and there´s a badge in the middle of it that looks like the Peugeot. Also shape of side windows look the same. |

Indeed it's a 404. |
