Remnants of a Volkswagen Van, could this be an early camper? -- Last edit: 2007-06-30 09:49:35 |

It's in fact the most desireable of the Type 1 "Split Window" VW Vans: the 23 window Samba |

The Volkswagen Bus/Transporter is known as Typ 2 (Typ 1 being the 'Beetle'), the first generation bus/transporter as T1. This bus was officially called 'Sondermodell' (=special edition), but is gererally known as the Samba-Bus, as Peekay already said. http://www.oldievan.de/html/samba-bus.html http://www.samba-chauffeur.de/ The year of production should be 1961 or 1962 (larger rear lights but still double doors). |

Funny scene: the three cars involved in the chase (Cadillac limo, Cadillac convertible and Plymouth) crash into this van when they make a U-turn. |

Funniest part of the chase! For that VW bus it was just a classic case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time! Aftter the Caddy convertible clips it, you can see the sand from the sandbag spill out the rear hatch if you watch closely. The sand bags were in place to weigh it down so it wouldn't overturn upon impact. |
