Not a VW-Porsche instead than simply Porsche ? |

In the US they were sold as Porsche, but this would be a French location so you are quite correct. Probably (based on the covered targa bar and chrome bumper) a Porsche-built 914/6 [Typ 914] or rather the later VW-built 914 2.0 [Typ 47] (they made far more cars than Porsche) Listed as a 1970, then a 914/6, or list as a 1973 (1974 gained new bumpers) 914 2.0 (by the number of cars) ? -- Last edit: 2018-05-07 14:16:42 |

Hubcaps mean VW engine version, not a 914/6. Agree there are references that VW versions should have painted rear pillars compared to vinyl on 914/6, but it doesn't seem reliable for early VW versions - most have vinyl. There may have been a Luxe package or similar from early on before the 1973+ 2.0. Black sills may be a dating feature, but away from home so can't check. Outcome - Not a 914/6; 1973+ 914 2.0 [Typ 47] seems best bet, though earlier VW example possible. |
