1951 German Grand Prix, #78 = Paul Pietsch, works Alfa Romeo 159, retired. This was his only drive for Alfa, but he seems an interesting character, who founded the magazine "Das Auto" which became "Auto, Motor und Sport". And after the death of Karl Kling in 2003 until his own death in 2012 at age 100, Pietsch was the oldest surviving Formula One driver, and the last surviving driver of the pre-war Grand Prix era. Pietsch was also the first Grand Prix driver to reach the age of 100. |
