Mercedes-Benz "/8" [W114/W115] (1968-76). The "/8" ("Strich-Acht", translated "dash-eight") is the unofficial name by which this car is known. It stems from the year of introduction ('68). The W114 was the six cylinder range (230.6 - 250 - 250 (2.8) - 280 - 280E), the W115 the four cylinder range (200 - 220 - 230.4 - 200D - 220D - 240D - 240D 3.0). In this case it is most likely a W115. The ambulance conversion was most probably made by Binz. http://www.airrescue.boo.pl/zdjecia/1104091217W114-binz-ambulance.jpg |

They were always with the sixcylinder engines in Sweden, so it´s a W114 |

There were about 120 of these Mercedes Ambulances left in Sweden 1989 in the registry, all of them were equipped with the 230 engine. |

The bumpers of the 200/220 W115 and the 230 W114 are the same, it´s the 250 that has got the double bumper in the front. http://de.geocities.com/m100_63_69/230_vor_Burg.html http://www.strichachtseite.de/ The 230 was divided in two series for 1974, with the facelifted version, 230.4/230.6. Earlier cars are called just 230 and equipped with the sixcyliner engine from the previous fintail 230. This Ambulance is pre facelift, and as I have said twice earlier they didn´t come with the four cylinder engine here. The 230.4 replaced the four cylinder 220. -- Last edit: 2006-06-16 18:35:51 |
