Yeah, that's because the 'C' in this case indicates that it's a Convertible (targa actually), in 1952 it was a progressive lettering system following to 500 and 500B Also with the launch of the 500L it wasn't told much about the reuse of the name, which stood for 'Lusso' in the 1960s and for 'Large' nowadays (but imho it would have been better call the new one 600 as it was rumored before the launch) |

But the old 500 C was also a convertible, hence... (I always thought the C stood for Cabriolet or similar) |
