The yellow one to the left. I think it´s the original Sussita model from Autocars Ltd in Haifa. They seem to have been branded differently over the years though. But as I can recall they were always referred to as Sussita in Israel. http://www.austin-rover.co.uk/index.htm?awisraelf.htm |

The Sussita is the wagon version of Autocars Sabra saloon,so delete Estate from name of model,'cause already Sussita name definites the body of model) |

So wasn't it: make - Autocars; model - Sussita? |

I don´t know what´s best to call these cars really. Autocars (Ltd.) feels more like the manufacturing company than a brand name, Sabra is what I thought was the brand for these cars. And so it seems to have been with the few samples that were exported. According to some contemporary literature I have from 1964 and 1968 they use Sabra as brandname. Both cars in this film are captured in Israel and they might have used another brand there in the beginning. The internet sources that I´ve found so far are not absolutely clear on this point. About the model here, I think both the pick-up and this Estate are of the first original model available as Van, Estate or Pick-up under the name of Sussita. The later estatemodel Sussita 12 based on the sedan Carmel is more edgy in the shape than this one I think. I believe the Sussita in this shape appeared in 1960. |

Left to right - Autocars Sussita Station wagon. This particular one produced 5/62-7/65. Sabra was indeed the export brand for Autocars vehicles. Opel Rekord-D, limousine. Metallic green makes it 1973-74, I think. Vauxhall Viva HA, probably 1964-66 Opel Olympia Rekord P, 1957-60 Willys Jeep CJ-5. Assembled in Haifa by Illin Industries. Ford Taunus (TC3). This model was sold in Israel during 1971-72. -- Last edit: 2007-10-29 09:07:59 |
