Whats the difference between this and a regular LTD besides the headlights? |

I get easilly confused between a Ford LTD and a Ford LTD-S too! |

In 1979, the base "LTD" had this grille, while the "LTD Landau" had the dual lamp/grille arrangement. In 1980, the "LTD" got the dual lamp grille along with the new "LTD Crown Victoria" (which replaced the "LTD Landau") and the single lamp front was then designated the "LTD-S". I hope that clarifies things. |

This is a 1981 model based on the solid front bumper but lack of Ford oval on the grille. |

The front bumper looks slotted from here, so 1981 and 1982 are out. Can't quite tell if it has a hood ornament or not. If so, it's a '79 LTD. If not, it's a 1980 LTD-S. |

Doesn't the thumbnail show the mount for the 1981+ side mirrors? |

Indeed. Perhaps the "slot" in the bumper is just a shadow. |

It's definitely a 79 or 80 bumper; later models moved the license plate under the head lights on the driver's side. Plus I'm fairly certain it has the tall 79 hood ornament. But it's missing quite a bit of trim, such as a c-pillar badge and moldings around the rear wheel. I suspect the driver's side may have been rebuilt at one time. |

Or the bumper could have been a replacement? Looks to maybe be another "Frankenstein" car. |

^Well if the doors are original; then it did not start out as an -S model as those do not have chrome moldings around the glass: /vehicle_237051-Ford-LTD-S-54D-1980.html |
