The bike is is not a 400. It's a 1982 Yamaha xj550RJ Seca. I know because I"ve owned one for the last 27 years. Looks like new and runs great. The bike was introduced in the States in 1981,color was white w/red graphics, '82, as pictured, and'83 was black w/red and yellowish graphics. The seca was the "cats ass" when it was introduced, but was quickly overshadowed buy the Kawasaki gpz line. Which eventually evolved into the famous "Ninja" series. I'm a Yamaha Seca nerd, sorry. |

I'd love to know more about that butt-fugly FAIRING - reminds me of the CX500 "plastic maggot" windscreen, but different somehow. I'm guessing this is an aftermarket item or dealer add-on product? Fugly as heck but screams "EIGHTIES" ... for good or for bad. It's got all the weird shapes of the '70s stuff only it's smaller for '80s sport vibes. "So bad it's good"! |

Was recently re-watching R-o-t-Nerds. When this bike came on the screen I got curious, year/model,.. so came here. Also, according to the partzilla diagram, the fairing is stock. Link to "www.partzilla.com" I think we can trust mcyclye as a veteran owner he would know. Good looking bike. |
