jwrADPS ◊ 2015-08-28 22:35	INCORRECT YEAR. The car in the first film was a then-new 1984 model. It was not kept hanging around for five years in hopes a sequel would be made. It was returned to AMC along with the other then-new 1984 Jeeps...the Grand Wagoneer and Cherokee seen when the Eagle first appears, and the Wrangler Marty gets towed by on his skateboard. AMC loaned them to get the free advertising of being in a major film release. By the time 1989/1990 rolls around, AMC is gone (sold to Chrysler) and so a look-alike used Eagle is found for this sequel...and it is a 1985 or later model, as it has the "power bulge" hood that became standard in 1985. The original 1984 car had the flatter hood with chrome trim down the center. Note the wrecked Eagle in this sequel is actually a decade-older Hornet (cheaper to buy, no big loss to destroy, same basic body with a different hood/grillework).
