David Madson was a 33-year-old architect from Minneapolis, Minnesota who was shot by Cunanan on the shore on Rush Lake near Rush City, Minnesota on the night of the 2nd May 1997. Cunanan met Madson at a bar in San Francisco, California in December 1995, afterwards they began a long distance relationship, but in Spring 1996, Madson told friends that he felt that there was something "shady" about Cunanan and chose to end the relationship with Cunanan. Both Madson and Cunanan were friends with Cunanan's first victim, former naval officer and propane manager, Jeffrey Trail who was bludgeoned to death in Madison's apartment on the night of the 27th April 1995. After killing Trail, Cunanan had rolled Trail's body in a rug and left Trail's body in Madison's living room. After the murder of Jeffrey Trail, investigators considered Madson as the prime suspect before considering Madison as Cunanan accomplice, but Madson's family and friends had believed that he was being held hostage by Cunanan. When Madson's body was found on the 3rd May, it was determined that he was shot with a .40 Calibre Taurus P100 Semi-automatic pistol, the same pistol that Cunanan took from Jeffrey Trail after Trail's murder. Cunanan then drove Madson's red Jeep across the Minnesota-Illinois Stateline to Chicago, where it was found on the street near the home of Cunanan's third victim, Lee Miglin in the Gold Coast Historic District in Chicago's Near North Side Area. -- Last edit: 2022-09-28 08:20:02 |
