This is actually how Richard Eaton was killed (he was not involved in the Lufthansa Heist; he stole $250,000 from Jimmy Conway/Burke and was skimming from money being laundered). The movie portrays Angelo Sepe and his girlfriend being found hanging in the meat truck freezer, when they were in fact gunned down by a Lucchesse hit squad after he robbed a Lucchesse-affiliated drug trafficer. |

Richard Eaton had help with this, his associate, Tom Monteleone and Tommy DeSimone's mistress, Theresa Ferrara had been involved in the skimming of the $250,000 as they skimmed it through a fake cocaine scam. Monteleone was killed in Connecticut two months after Eaton's murder in March 1979 while Ferrara's dismembered body was found floating in Barnegat Inlet near Toms River in New Jersey four months after Monteleone's murder.
