The right name is "Gurgel X 12 L" It is not based on a VW-Chassis like Kit-Cars or Buggy´s. It has a tubular frame moulded in a "plasteel"-body. Only engine, transmission and axles from Volkswagen do Brasil. As you can see there: http://www.gurgelbrasil.com/ |

In the end of the 80s Gurgel launched an urban car named BR-800 (called Supermini in the 90s) with a 800 cc 2 cylinder engine projected and built by the engineer João Gurgel, the company founder. Gurgel intended to make the cheapest car in Brazil, but Fiat launched in 1990 its Uno Mille with 994 cc engine, a car bigger and cheaper than Gurgel Supermini. |

Annother Gurgel-buggy is to see in that movie (which is not listed at IMCDB): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076544/ The scene with it was filmed in Southwest-Africa (nowadays Namibia). |
