I'm quite sure this is a Skoda Popular. |

Oh, yes indeed, I'm not sure if there wasn't also a number in the name "XXX Popular". At least we know why it is an RHD. |

There was a 420 Popular roadster, but I couldn't find yet this convertible... Btw. though this car is RHD and came from "RHD" Czechoslavakia, before the war there were lots of RHD cars from LHD countries: most upmarket French and Italian cars had RHD (Lancia up to the fifties...) and until the twenties it was even quite rare to find LHD cars. So was the Opel 4/12 PS 'Laubfrosch' almost an exact copy of the Citroën 5 HP, except for the Opel being RHD - Citroëns choice was regarded as too modern or strange... |

I've heard something about that, but wasn't sure. Thanks, this info also finally answer for the questions about DKW -> /vehicle_119981-DKW-F8-Front-Cabrio-1939.html -- Last edit: 2007-08-02 23:36:30 |

The Skoda Popular 1100 range did not list a true convertible but a 2 door convertible coach, a so called convertible roadster 2 seater and a true roadster 2 seater with low sports type doors. This is a 1936 Skoda Rapid Convertible with the landau irons , vertical hood louvres, 3 very thick door hinges and the straight bumper. The Rapid models were powered by a 1385 cc four of 31 hp compared to 995 cc and 22 hp for the Popular 420. |
