Just like with the Lambretta in this case, too, Vespa is not the maker. It should be: Piaggio Vespa 400 (1957). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vespa_400 |

The VESPA 400 was built by the french company ACMA (Ateliers de Construction de Motocycles et Automobiles) which made under license Piaggio, the scooters and this little car from 1957 unti 1961...therefore I think the name should be ACMA (as make) VESPA (as type) or P/ACMA VESPA but not Piaggio http://www.filcom.com/capaction/history.php |

How was it sold? Even if it was made by ACMA, it may have been sold as only "Vespa 400" with no mention of the company in the car name, so in that case the make would be Vespa (simple question; since I do not know anything about this car). -- Last edit: 2005-10-27 14:33:06 |

It was sold as VESPA, produced by ACMA, with a logo P/ACMA on the front, Vespa 400 on the back...I've send an email to the owner of the website I've mentionned...waiting for his point of view. My first opinion was to make a special name VESPA and type 400... |

It's definitively not Piaggio the maker, though the development and design was done in Italy, but ACMA a french subsidiary company that produced the model. About 90% of components were made in France, and the commercialization was done in France only..;few models beeing exported |
