This ambulance is a french Chenard & Walcker ,probably" Aigle 22 "version sanitaire from 1939. It is not sure whether it is a transformation of a contemporary 7-seater Aigle Familiale sedan or a factory-built "commerciale Aigle 22" version sanitaire body. I would rather opt for the first. Indeed ,the factory-built "commerciale Aigle 22 "had a different rear-roof line with smaller rear side-posts. Another modification from stock on this car is the headlight position ,which were inclined on the original model but are redressed on this example. This may have been due to comply with later requirements by the " Service des Mines". The "Aigle 22" used the Citroën 11 cv 1.9 litre four cylinder engine. But one cannot exclude that this particular ambulance was built on the " Aigle 8" chassis powered by Matford's 21 hp 3.6 litre V8 engine which was also offered on the sedans |

Thank's very much for these very accurate informations. we shall suppose that it is an Aigle 22 type, whatever from whom the transformation as Ambulance had been done. About the engine, I am sure that it is a 4 cylinder engine, because of the sound very characteristic we can hear on the sound track of the film. |
