looks self-cobbled on the basis of different pre-war cars, on a -as not uncommon- UAZ-Jeep-chassis |

Yeah http://eag.vanatehnika.ee/m12.html - Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith Erdmann&Rossi 1939 |

Well spotted, but not totally correct. The Silver Wraith was not introduced until 1946. This chassis would be a Wraith, assuming a production date of 1939 is correct. -- Last edit: 2018-12-27 19:43:33 |

Link to "www.coachbuild.com" I have to offer the thought that the full on front view does the car no favours. -- Last edit: 2018-12-28 08:46:00 |

"Erdmann & Rossi built two similar looking bodies for the Rolls Royce Wraith in 1938 and 1939 with chassis numbers WXA106 and WHC45. WXA106 was delivered to Michael Reichsgraf von Althan, who lived in Silesia, and is now with a Mr Kulberg in Latvia. WHC45 was supplied to Lindemann KG, probably for a Mr Doberg. One example was finished in silver and the other one was painted black, but it is difficult to get a clear picture of which car is which." |

The car originally finished in black is WXA106, now restored and painted silver. WHC45 was originally silver and had a roof rack for luggage. It has not been heard of since it was first delivered. The car in the picture is WXA106. |

For once I can reiterate the history like the RRists: "This aluminium-bodied 1939 Rolls-Royce Wraith, shown at the 1939 Berlin Auto Salon, came as a war trophy to the USSR after WWII. Unconfirmed statements associate the car with Vyacheslav Molotov, patriarch Aleksy I. and a famous Leningrad architect. In the 1950s the car found its way to Estonia (Pärnu County). Sold to Latvia in 1976, on display at the Riga Motor Museum in the 2000s. Restored as of now." |
