![]() ![]() This is a post-war Czech built OT 810 sightly modified and posing for a German Sd.Kfz.251 Ausf.D built by Büssing-NAG onto a Hanomag H kl 6 chassis as used for the Sd.Kfz.11 leichter Zugkraftwagen 3t (halftrack prime mover). During the war the Czech factories 'Bohemia', 'Škoda' and 'Tatra' made those armoured halftracks under German supervision. After the war they kept on building the vehicles for their own use. |

main difference to the ww2 originals being the postwar copies had full length roof armour, which re enactors usually cut off to open the top up like its ww2 counterpart..pistol ports in the sides, usually welded up on restorations, and a diesel engine, usually from the Praga truck series...and the postwar version lacks the stowage compartments along the lower sides,as can be seen in the picture, the blank lower plate has three opening compartments on the wartime version.another way of positively identifying an OT18 from its wartime German equivalent is the German one has rubber block tracks, whereas, as in the case of the above pic, the OT18 has steel tracks with no rubber......a major headache for todays re enactors, as the vehicle has to be transported by truck and cannon be road driven....something enthusiasts dont take into account. -- Last edit: 2008-12-06 14:34:57 |
