Series V. Unless it’s some strange Australian chimera. -- Last edit: 2019-02-27 17:06:24 |

Only shot it's in - I can't tell if it's an Oxford or a Cambridge, hence the "unknown" |

Agree probably Oxford - the Aus Cambridge had different colour split as UK (but was an A60 ADO9 with 1622cc). If my book pictures are accurate, ringed hubcaps were shared across all Aus ADO9s (also Wolseley 15/60), but not on next version Austin Freeways and Wolseley 24/80 which I think also had longer front wings for the 6-cyl engine; Morris version only existed for ADO9 period. So 1959-62 Oxford S5 [ADO9], although different from UK as had 1622cc like their Cambridge. |

The shape of the back fins is that of a British style Oxford, not a Cambridge. According to my memory, backed up by Wikipedia, the 1622cc engine was not built until 1961, for the introduction of the Oxford VI, A60 etc. -- Last edit: 2019-02-27 23:12:57 |

"Australian production - The A55 Mk II entered production in Australia in 1959 with a 1,622 cc version of the B Series four-cylinder engine as the Austin A60. Australian use of the larger engine and the A60 name preceded British usage by two years. The A60 was replaced in 1962 by a revised model powered by a six-cylinder 2,433 cc engine, marketed as the Austin Freeway and was produced by BMC Australia until 1965." - wiki. My book lists the Aus Oxford S5 in the same way and identical info as the A60 [ADO9], despite the lack of any Aus mention on the Oxford wiki page. |
