Popularly known as the "Fuscar Itamar", because of Itamar Franco the Brazilian president at the time who said that there should be an even more affordable car than the Fiat Uno Mille, so VW resurrected the Fusca, but it wasn't a success and it was phased out after just three years. The Brazilian Real came into effect in 1994, inflation was greatly reduced and buying power increased.
