'Made for USA' by the headlamps and side lights. These US models had chassis code [L3] and (on paper) nice French names like Grand Luxe (for the simple version), Seine (equivalent to single-colour Grand Standing) and Vendôme (two-tone Grand Standing). This is a Seine. |

According to the bible of US imports (which is one of those approximately reliable sources, not always absolutely reliable so can be over-ruled by better info), Panhards were sold in US 1946-62. 1946-53 is a very vague entry, then 1954+ has detailed entries for each 1 or 2 year period. Distributors were always West Coast in LA, from 1960 listed as Citroen Cars Corp; no mention of East Coast. PL17s arrived 1960 with 42 bhp as Saloon, Grand Standing and the convertible, with Tiger [sic] engine options (50 bhp). 1961-62 saw Nice and Monte Carlo saloons (42 bhp) and Tiger convertible, plus continued Tiger option on saloons. |
