Renault Colorale Fourgonnette, 1950-1957. |

I thought that only "Prairie" and "Savane" were used with "Colorale" as model name, the other versions (like the fourgonnette) did not had a special name (i.e. should go only as extra info?) |

I even wonder if the "Colorale" name was ever used on the very cars... As far as I could find out, it was just the name for the whole range, I coudn't find a differentiation between Prairie and Savanne on one side, and the others on the other side. But in Rétroviseur #87 (novembre 1995, Profil Renault Colorale) is a reproduction of a brochure with the pick-up version and the text "Colorale 800 kg. plateau baché"... PS1 I was wrong by giving 1950 as first date, since the Colorale series was introduced in October 1950 (Salon de Paris). PS2 Just for the record: In the background is a nice Opel Rekord [P2]. |

Colorale Prairie = 4 door sedan (though that it is a wagon shape) Colorale Savane = 2 door + the other Colorales: pickup, van, etc. with apparently no particular name other than just Colorale. They mention "800 kg. plateau baché" but that is just what I call "descriptive commercial name", like the "Four-Door Hardtop" or "Four-Door Sedan" applied to many US cars. -- Last edit: 2007-08-27 18:09:01 |
