We own this car and it was set to be a "hero car." They ended up writing out the character that was a suspect in the case. HBO had these BFG wide-whitewalls overnighted from Coker tire to exaggerate a tire slashing scene with the kids in the VW. Those characters were largely downplayed as well. They ended up keeping the car for about 6 months and I believe the story kept changing as often as the directors for the season. We did get to be present when they shot this scene and that was fun to watch. This particular 1964 Valiant V8 was owned by my wife's family from 1968-1985. It was both her aunt's and then her mom's first car. Her mom added a JC Penny 8 track player which is still in the car. In the early 80's her grandpa was working at a bank when it was robbed. The bank robber stole the car and escaped. He was later caught, but got off after convincing the court that he was under the influence of hypnosis. We didn't realize at the time that it was her actual car. |
