2012 Bonham's auction notice: 1934 Austin Seven Saloon de Luxe Registration no. BPE 338 Chassis no. 192335 Engine no. B9 6043 "One of the final models offered prior to the introduction of the heavily revised and restyled Ruby version was the type RP 'Saloon de Luxe', of which the car offered here is an excellent example. Offered for the 1933/34 seasons and priced at £128, the RP or 'Box' saloon was built on the longer (6' 9") wheelbase chassis with bolt-on steel body and was one of the first Austins to feature synchromesh transmission (on second and top gears). A top speed of 60mph was claimed with fuel consumption in the region of 40-50mpg." Another Studio 434 rental. |
