W108 By the colour it may be the US unique 280 SEL 4.5. |

@ingo: The colour cannot possible suggest a specific model. If anything perhaps certain years of production. Please remember that the 280 SEL 4.5 was not the only model on offer in the US at the time. -- Last edit: 2019-04-07 11:29:49 |

@zodiac: I mean, that this is a late colour, and the late W108 for USA often were 280 SE/SEL 4.5 |

@ingo: I'd imagine the most important word in your last post was "often". Unfortunately I don't have any figures how many cars of a specific model that was exported to the US. According to MBIG Handbuch W108/109 page 2.70, 76.098 cars were exported to the US, of which 14.812 were 280 S, 18.698 were 280 SE, 13.490 were 280 SE 4.5 and 8.160 were 280 SEL 4.5. During the same time 13.779 of the 280 S and 20.051 of the 280 SE were exported to Europe. I don't know if one can draw any results from those figures. I will at some point go through my issues of Road and Track to see if there are any information there. |

At least this is a 280 SE, if not SEL, of some sort. I cannot say for certain. |
