So, was it a mark of prosperity that time? ( In the movie the owner of this car is somewhat of a Deputy Director of a company producing breakfast cereals, Oatibix being their competitor). His boss drives /vehicle_1251845-Wolseley.html .

"This is a very rare vehicle with only 1028 being manufactured between 1939 and 1940." - https://www.fordprefecttourer.co.uk/about . Seems to be our first Tourer (in UK at least), alongside the even rarer Drophead Coupé (straight doors without cut-outs, different hood, 667 built).

No idea about olden days, but Oatibix exists today since 2006.

Some days ago I made a bad mistake in the supermarket, when I bought a cup of ice cream. At home I saw, that it was vegan, made from oats - and it tasted disgusting [:puke]
...and that junk was even more expensive that high-priced Ben&Jerry's...

In April 1937 the basic Ford 8 Model Y cost exactly £100 new. The 7Y standard model had increased to £117.10shillings in August of the year, but for a new design. This car was nearly 32% more expensive so you can see the distinction. In 1938 my father had a Model C Ford Ten, £135 new, but I don’t know what he paid. When he joined the RAF it stayed on blocks in his Uncle Jacks garage until 1946, when he sold it to raise the cash to marry, buying a 1929 BSA three wheeler until he could afford the Austin Seven, then the Ford Y, all second hand.
