The secrets are in the grille badges, even though this one has lost its shield badge. Only Mk1/Mk1A/Mk2 had the name logos on the chrome surround - this was removed for Mk3. First design was a ribbed shiny nameplate with large lettering (Mk1), replaced by a grey enamelled style with thinner font (Mk2). However unclear if changeover came with Mk1A update or was delayed until Mk2 - I've got 2 Rover books which illustrate the change but give the different changeover points. Unfortunately they're both by the same author ..... I think this is the first style, so Mk1 (definite) or Mk1A (maybe). And it looks like Mk1/Mk1A headlights (spiders-eye with the Rover logo in centre, not present on Mk2) which means it can only be a saloon. |
