Or were there also a Renaults in Italy? |

I don't think that Renault sold Dauphines in Italy at the time they were also made by Alfa Romeo. Production of the Alfa Romeo Dauphine started in June 1959, and this car cannot be older than that: the chrome trim of the rear window was specific for the Alfa and for the 1960 Renault Dauphine Gordini (but that one had also chromed hings for the rear bonnet). Alfa differed from the French cars by the rear lights with separate reflectors on the grilles (not well visible here), the license plate light holder (but that was used also in other export markets), the chrome trim on windscreen and rear window, the square front indicators (like 1960 Dauphine Gordinis) and their scripts on dashboard and front wings. As I said, the combination of chromed windowframe and short, not chromed hings makes it sure this is an Alfa Romeo Dauphine, 1959+ |

Quelques éclaircissements (en français...) page "Dauphines spéciales, sous-page "Dauphines Alfa-Romeo": http://dauphinomaniac.dauphstock.org/ |

Even if produced under licence, it is just the same cas as the Renault Dauphine, no? So I would consider it as a French car... |

Ok, according to the link can be French, it was something in a CKD style if I understand correct. Here as I wrote can be, but generally I wouldn't agree with that. Everywhere in catalogs etc., the licence cars which are made under different makes have flags of country in which they are produced. Even on the site we list some of them in such way - another French example (though not 'licence') can be Unic - (some of them are identical with Fiats) and thousands of cars from the former eastern block. I think such info is more accurate, better understandable and more interesting. Of course it doesn't mean that I will change any flags here. -- Last edit: 2007-09-03 22:49:02 |

Many details differed from the French original version, such as lights, seat covers, colours. |

La Dauphine nella foto non sembra essere prodotta dall'Alfa Romeo, non vedo la scritta sul cofano motore posteriore... |
