The aircraft is a Douglas DC-6, one if the mist popular airliners of the 1950s. Built 1947-58, 704 produced. If this is really a US Navy aircraft, it would have been called a R6D (Transport, 6th model from Douglas). The USAF called theirs C-118s. |
