I do not know where they found so many of these old Caprices, they become rare in recent movies.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 01:10:29 |

They still pop up once in a while in movies. Odd, the cops have cars that say "Sheriff" on the door, but "Police" on the lightbars ![]() |

Looks like Texas plates(almost!)...."Police" on light bars...."Sheriff" on doors....along with "Department of Public Safety"....which is the "formal" name(in Texas)for the Highway Patrol!!!! Bet they're confused?? ![]() -- Last edit: 2007-09-04 03:37:27 |

I think they were trying to present ordinary police cars, for us not to know where the action is taken. Other examples like this are: UnderWorld, Matrix Reloaded I would have personally written down 'Police' instead of 'Sheriff' but there you go ![]() -- Last edit: 2007-10-21 22:51:23 |

Five of these cars were all owned by the same guy on the Gold Coast. Ghost Rider was pretty much their final role (still had that paint job on them when I last saw them). Unfortunately they all pretty much just sat in his backyard (on grass, with poor drainage) for 15-ish years, and most of them were heavily rusted out and deteriorated, when it was time to move them on (after his passing) most of them were beyond repair, and suitable only for their running gear. Four of them have been scrapped, and I currently own the last one of the five, which was frankensteined together using parts of the others and runs and drives. It was used in "Joe vs. Carole" (2022) before I bought it. All of them were 9C1s, and I believe all CA cars. |

We should list Lefty as the owner. |

Link to "www.justcars.com.au" It says this one was used in this movie. Is this Lefty's car or another one that is claiming to be it? |

Nah that one's not mine, but mine is pretty similar (just a lot rougher). There was more than just the one company that owned and rented out cars at the time, I didn't mean to give the impression that this one guy on the Gold Coast owned ALL the 199X film Caprices. There were a few other companies that had them too. There was another guy, also in QLD, who supplied cars for Ghost Rider, and I know that he had later year Caprices (with the open wheel wells) at one stage. Besides the car you linked there is also an NYPD Caprice from Kangaroo Jack which ended up in private hands after that movie, still in its NYPD paint job: https://www.flickr.com/photos/50415738@N04/6107984929/in/photostream/ |

This is all interesting to me. When I watch US movies/TV shows filmed in AUS now, I'm always picking out the same cars, like these. And I did see yours in Joe vs Carole, and I'm planning on doing that series next. |

Yeah I'm the same way, it's good fun. |

Oddly enough. Shouldn't this fictional police or sheriff's department be using the 2003-2005 Crown Vics and 2000+ Impalas instead of the outdated Caprices? Since the Crown Vics and Impalas are more appropriate vehicles for the movie's year and setting? ![]() -- Last edit: 2024-11-20 15:26:10 |

Sure, but the production made do with cars that were readily available on location in Australia. |

They could've at least import some from the US. ![]() -- Last edit: 2024-11-20 13:51:55 |
