Originally a Gardner 5LW powered service bus, converted to open top and engine replaced by a 6LW in April 1952. Withdrawn from service in July 1964. The Arab II had a longer engine compartment to allow fitment of either the 5 or the 6 cylinder engine without modification of the chassis, a dispensation was granted by the Ministry of (War) Transport to allow for over length buses necessitated by the short snout protruding in front of the cab. The bus was originally Utility Highbridge 30/26 Rear entrance, converted to Open Highbridge 30/26 Rear entrance. Presumably the bus would pass under lower bridges if the upper deck passengers ducked a bit. -- Last edit: 2019-05-31 17:02:12 |
