Something not right here...why is this the only 218 that's an R3?

Short answer is that it's fine because they weren't common, 218 only applies to this "warm" hatch version which was rare.

Slightly longer answer is that whilst other versions came with 1.8 engines (but with VVC unlike the iS edition) for some reason these were always badged and referred to in marketing materials/brochures as just 200 then the edition name (200 vi, 200 BRM LE).

We won't go into the fact there were two iS trims which were totally different.

Oh, go on! It'll make a good question for the imcdb Xmas quiz.

I used to set the Christmas Quiz for the Bentley Drivers Club, but it was very hard to maintain interest while investing the thing with some humour.

I shan’t volunteer to do one for IMCDB, some of the people here know what they are talking about.

:D 1997-99, This version, 5 spoke wheels, looked like "hot" version with the wheels and fogs. Only one with the 1.8 engine (there was a 1.4 16v too).

1999, runout version, different wheels (mixed spokes), no 1.8 petrol but loads of other engine options, some fetching purple seats. :o
