At the 1966 Le Mans 24 Hours, the German Race Team, Porsche System Engineering had fielded five Porsche 906/6 LHs, four of the five 906/6 LHs had managed completed the race.

Those four had finished behind the three Fords, fielded by Shelby American and Holman & Moody Racing teams with Miles, Hulme, McLaren, Amon, Bucknum and Hutcherson driving them.

The 906/6 LHs team consisted of:

No. 30 - Driven by Swiss racing driver, Joseph Siffert and British co-driver, Colin Davis, finished 4th with 339 laps completed.

Both Siffert and Davis were declared the winners for the Prototype 2000 Class category.

No. 31 - Driven by German racing driver, Hans Hermann and co-driver, Herbert Linge, finished 5th with 338 laps completed.

No. 32 - Driven by German racing driver, Udo Schütz and South African co-driver, Peter de Klerk, finished 6th with 337 laps completed.

No. 33 - Driven by American racing driver, Peter Gregg and Swedish co-driver, Sven Axelsson, failed to finish with engine problems a few minutes left in the race with the 321 laps completed.

No. 58 - Reserved vehicle, driven by German racing driver, Günter Klass and co-driver, Rolf Stommelen, finished 7th with 330 laps completed.

Both Klass and Stommelen were declared the winners for the Sports 2000 Class category.
